Sylvania Environ– Intelligent Control Gear System
With the increased focus on energy efficiency due to the unprecedented rise in energy prices, it is essential for lighting manufacturers to develop innovative energy saving technologies for sustainable and environmentally responsible lighting solutions. Sylvania have done just that by developing the Environ Control Gear System, integrating intelligent, electronic controls with traditional, triedand- true magnetic ballast technology to provide energy savings for higher wattage High Pressure Sodium and Metal Halide applications. The Sylvania Environ System harvests the maintenance factor used in lighting designs by adjusting lamp power to compensate for light loss factors, lamp and luminaire dirt depreciation. The electronic, Active Reactor controller at the centre of the Environ system, maintains the constant lumen output at the desired design illuminance level, then as the lamp ages, ramps up the power to the lamp gradually to maintain that consistent level. By maintaining constant light output by utilising variable power, the Environ System provides energy savings of 20-25% for High Pressure Sodium, and 15-20% for Metal Halide. Furthermore, the Environ System offers the added benefit of extending lamp life by more than 50%, providing additional maintenance cost savings.
